Japanese mare Hana’s Goal has upset her more fancied rivals to win the 2014 All Aged Stakes and her first Group 1 race.

In the final Group 1 race of the 2014 Sydney Carnival Hana’s Goal flew down the outside from the back of the field to score an impressive win from Weary in second and Tiger Tees third. Race favourite Rebel Dane faded in the straight to finish fifth.

Hana’s Goal was having her third start in Australia after previously tackling the Group 1 Coolmore Classic (14th) and the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (6th).

“It was very good win. She has probably adjusted a bit. She ran in two of our hardest races. It is not easy to come here from the other side of the world and run in a Doncaster that’s for sure,” jockey Rawiller said.

“Today in a small field she had a few things that suited her and she showed her class and that’s what she has plenty of.”
