2015 All Aged Stakes May Figure for Tiger Tees

January 23rd, 2015

Securing several typically impressive results over the 2014 Spring Racing Carnival, trainer Joe Pride has revealed classy gelding Tiger Tees may contest his autumn swansong in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on April 18th before heading north for the Brisbane Winter Carnival.

Securing a maiden Group 1 victory during the 2014 Autumn Carnival, Tiger Tees returned to racing in exceptional form in spring; taking out each of the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) and Group 2 Warwick Stakes (1400m) before placing an impressive second to two-time Group 1 winner Lucia Valentina in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400M) on September 6th.

Outlining the Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes (1000m) in Melbourne as the likely first point of call for the son of Dubawi, Pride said he cannot fault the condition of the veteran and is hopeful for some soft, rain affected tracks through autumn.

“Tiger Tees is in great order and he may come down for the Lightning,” Pride told Racing Ahead.

“I will have him ready to go at that time, but I will probably want a bit of give in the track and if we can’t get that he will stay here at home and we will concentrate on the Challenge.

“I couldn’t be happier with him and he looks in fantastic order.

“All he needs in the autumn is some soft tracks.

“He will probably just have one trial if he goes to the Lightning.

“The Lightning is on the in the middle of February and going through to the end of this month and early next month he will be asked for a little bit more.”

Charging home to take out the Listed Falvelon (1200m) at Eagle Farm first-up in 2014, Tiger Tees appeared out of his depth when returning to Sydney for ninth in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m), but responded in the best way possible when charging home to win the Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) by half a length on March 29th.

Running a commendable fourth amongst classy competition in the Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m) on April 12th, Tigers Tees placed a strong third in the All Aged Stakes before ending his season seventh in the Group 1 BTC Cup (1200m).
