Dissident Ready for 2015 All Aged Stakes Swansong

April 14th, 2015

Trainer Peter Moody has been understandably thrilled with the results posted by Dissident over his impressive career so far but concedes he faces a huge task for success in the 2015 All Aged Stakes (1400m) after being confirmed alongside the likes of Chautauqua and Terravista.

A four-time Group 1 winner, Dissident will be retired into a stud career following the All Aged Stakes and was initially rated clear favourite to bow out of competition in style, but will have to account for field that is set to include up to nine Group 1 champions.

Moody has been pleased with the condition of the Sebring entire in recent weeks and is hopeful his current stable star will leave his care with a fifth victory at the highest level to his name through success in the 2015 All Aged Stakes.

“I would suggest there is every chance this will be his last start,” Moody told The Daily Telegraph.

“He has been a tremendous horse and it would be lovely for him to go out with another Group 1 win.

“He had a gallop there (Randwick) last Friday and I was very pleased with his work.

“The horse is in great shape.”

Posting six wins and a further eight minor place finishes through his 20 career starts so far, Dissident was unlucky not to break through for a win at the highest level through his two-year-old career; placing second to Zoustar in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) most notably.

Returning in slick form in 2014, Dissident ran a close second to El Roca in the Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) first-up before taking out each of the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m).

Undoubtedly registering career-best form to date over a 2014 spring campaign highlighted by consecutive wins in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m), Dissident suffered a shock loss in the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) first-up this time but responded in the best way possible in taking out the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) on February 14th.

The 2015 All Aged Stakes final field is due to be completed and released by midday, Wednesday.
