13 talented runners have been confirmed in the final field for Saturday’s featured Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick, highlighted by the inclusion of several previous winners at the highest level of Australian racing.
Dissident has been confirmed to retire into a stud career following Saturday’ Randwick meet and leads the 2015 All Aged Stakes final field.
Unlucky not to break through for a maiden win at the highest level through his maiden racing season in 2013, Dissident return in slick form last autumn; running a close second to El Roca in the Listed Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) first-up before posting consecutive wins in the Group 3 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m).
Undoubtedly finding career-best form through the Spring Carnival, the Sebring entire won each of the Group 1 Moir Stakes (1400m) and Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m) first-up before running an agonizingly-close second in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m).
Finishing third in each of the Group 2 Australia Stakes (1200m) and Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) and winning the Group 1 CF Orr Stakes (1400m) this time, Dissident is positioned well in barrier 6 and will be tough to beat in his racing swansong.
Terravista and Chautauqua are currently rated two of the world’s best sprinters and have been confirmed to take their places in the 2015 All Aged Stakes final field.
Terravista also posted career-best form to date over the 2014 Spring Carnival; winning both the Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) and Group 2 The Shorts (1100m) with ease, and while unlucky to run fifth in a fanning finish in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m), responded in the best way possible when taking out the talent-rich Group 1 Darley Classic (1200m) on November 8th.
Having placed third in each of the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) and Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m) this time, the Captain Rio gelding will relish improved track conditions on Saturday and is sure to receive a gem of a ride from Hugh Bowman from barrier 2.
Contesting a similar form line to Terravista through spring, Chautauqua was untouchable in the Group 3 Bobbie Lewis Quality (1200m) and Group 2 Gilgai Stakes (1200m) before running a close second in the Darley Classic (1200m).
Winning the Group 2 Rubiton Stakes (1100m) and finishing second in the Newmarket Handicap before mustering an incredible final straight sprint to win the T.J. Smith Stakes last start, Chautauqua will drop to the rear of the paddock from barrier 1 and is sure to be boosted by the confirmation last start jockey Tommy Berry will take the ride.
Lucky Hussler broke through for a maiden win at the highest level last start but will have to overcome the wide and awkward barrier 13 if to continue his winning run through the All Aged Stakes.
Responding well to a trainer change from Kent Fleming to Darren Weir following a last place finish in last year’s Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m), Lucky Hussler charged home to win the Group 3 Moonga Stakes (1400m) on October 18th before placing a close second in the Group 1 Emirates Stakes (1600m).
Displaying a strong final straight sprint to take out the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) a fortnight ago, the Husson gelding will relish a step-up to 1400m for the All Aged Stakes and will be difficult to beat.
