Terravista Primed for 2015 All Aged Stakes Success

April 15th, 2015

Terravista was undoubtedly the standout performer for Joe Pride over the 2014 Spring Carnival, and the Warwick Farm-based trainer is confident he is at peak condition leading into Saturday’s featured Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.

Ending his spring campaign in the best way possible in beating a talented field to the line in the Group 1 Darley Classic (1200m), Terravista has been unable to return to the winner’s circle over two starts this time in; running third in each of the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) and Group 1 T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m); finishing behind fierce rival and fellow All Aged Stakes acceptor Chautauqua in each.

Somewhat disappointed with the two 2015 performances, Pride told Racing Ahead the Captain Rio gelding has come through his most recent run in exceptional condition and is confident the conditions of the 2015 All Aged Stakes will play directly into his strengths.

“His run the other day, obviously a little bit disappointed because I’ve got my horse on par, if not a little bit ahead of Chautauqua and I was I disappointed with the dominance he seemed to beat us with,” Pride said.

“But all’s not lost, it was a funny sort of track the other day and I’m hoping that played a role but looking forward to running him again.

“He’s fully wound up for this, he’s been really relaxed in his races lately and I’m sure that’s going to help him.

“He loves Randwick; he races well there all the time so I’m more than happy with him.”

Posting nine wins and a further three minor place finishes through his 15 career starts so far, Terravista won each of the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) and Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m) most notably through the 2014 autumn but failed to make an impact when eleventh in his maiden Group 1 appearance in the George Ryder Stakes (1500m).

Taking out each of the Group 3 Show County Quality (1200m) and Group 2 The Shorts (1100m) upon resuming in spring, Terravista was unlucky to finish fifth in the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) in what was his only other start prior to the Darley Classic.

Confirmed to be partnered by leading hoop Hugh Bowman and allocated the ideal barrier 2, Terravista is currently available at a generous quote of $6 for success in 2015 All Aged Stakes betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au.
